KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a 40-year-old man for allegedly being in cahoots with a government official in the transfer of the ownership of a land using false documents.

According to a source, the self-employed man is believed to have been detained at the Selangor MACC office at about 1.55pm this afternoon after he was asked to give a statement.

"The detainee's act was revealed after the land owner's next-of-kin confirmed that the nominee, who was his father, had died and that the land had never been transferred to any party.

"The suspect is believed to have colluded with a government department official in a district in Selangor for the transfer of the ownership of the land without the knowledge of the next-of-kin," the source said.

Meanwhile, Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case was investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He said the suspect will be brought to the Shah Alam magistrate's court tomorrow at 9am for a remand application to assist in the investigation.
