MACC remands two individuals for allegedly asking and receiving more than RM100,000 bribe

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has granted a remand order from Magistrate Court, here, this morning, against two individuals who are former division heads of a private rubber company.

 

Magistrate Mohd Dinie Shazwan Shukor granted a three-day remand starting today till May 12 on a suspect that is in his 80s, and a four-day remand from today till May 13 for the other suspect who is a 45-year-old male.

 

MACC sources said the duo was placed under remand for allegedly receiving more than RM100,000 in bribes from a contractor to obtain machinery purchasing and goods supplying projects.

 

They were arrested at MACC headquarters, here, yesterday around 9pm when they came in to have their statements recorded.

 

The duo was suspected to have asked for RM83,000 and RM50,000 bribes, respectively, from a contractor, to obtain cutting machinery purchasing and rubber industrial goods projects between 2019 till 2020.

 

Meanwhile, MACC senior investigation director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim said the case was being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
